Alexander was chosen based on their leadership abilities in multiple aspects of student life and intercultural relations. During his senior year at SIU, heserved on a number of committees, including the Student Rights and Responsibilities Hiring Search Committee, Resident life’s Graduate Assistant Hiring Search Panel, Black History Month’s Activity planning committee, and the Black Men’s Initiative Student , Faculty and Staff advisory board. One of the biggest achievements Alexander took part in was constructing with his peers the theoretical framework for the Black Men’s Initiative.
