American Heart Association Walk | Office of Student Engagement | SIU

The American Heart Association is sponsoring the 2017 Southern Illinois Heart and Stroke Walk on October 7, 2017 at Walker’s Bluff Winery.  SIU student organizations can form a Heart Walk Team and participate as a service project.

Any student group from SIU which is interested in putting together a Heart Walk Team should first choose some individual to serve as a Team Captain—that person is then invited to a short breakfast meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 31 at the Stone Center (the SIU President’s Office at 1400 Douglas Drive) to obtain necessary instructions and materials.  It is not necessary to have team members identified for the August 31 meeting.  The regional director for the American Heart Association will be present to help set up online donations for each team, get you organized, and answer any other questions you may have about forming a team.

• The SIU student-based Heart Walk Team members raising the most money for the AHA will receive a special prize sponsored by the President’s Office.

While not necessary, but to get an approximate count for breakfast, please call Paula Keith at 536.3471 if your student organization has a Captain who can attend the organizational meeting on the 31^st.
