There are opportunities for students to participate in over 350 registered student organizations! SIU has everything from student government, public interest groups, fraternities and sororities, publication and media groups, scholastic and professional honorary societies, departmental clubs, special interest groups, religious organizations, and sports and recreation clubs. If you have an interest, we have a student organization for you!
Upcoming Fall 2026 RSO Training Sessions & Financial Workshops Coming Soon!
All upcoming training sessions are meant for RSO Officers. We encourage any officer maintaining the Saluki Connect portal, scheduling rooms, and/or maintaining finances or purchasing for their organization attend these training sessions. It is required of each organization to send at least two officers each semester to RSO training to remain in compliance as an RSO.
Our office has also schedules optional RSO Financial Workshops (flyer attached). These sessions are not required but strongly encouraged for anyone making purchases for their RSO. Learn more about the funding process and tips to help your RSO.

RSO Awards
The Office of Student Engagement recognizes that RSOs and individual student leaders contribute a great deal to Southern Illinois University. The RSO Awards is our way of formally recognizing you and your organization for your contributions to our campus and community. We have joined forces with the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to host the annual Students of Distinction Awards in the spring semester. This years awards will be Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms. All are encouraged to attend; refreshments will be served. Applications are live now until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on April 16th.
In addition to our RSO awards, we also like to take the time to highlight our graduating seniors. The Office of Student Engagement will be accepting nominations for the 6th Annual Outstanding Leadership and Service Awards for Graduating Seniors in 2026. The award will recognize the achievements of students who are graduating in May 2026 or December 2026 in their commitment to leadership, service, or improvement of the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus. If you would like to nominate a graduating senior (and self-nominations are accepted), please fill out the following form. Nmination forms are live now until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on April 16th.
