Leadership and Service Week ~ November 18-22, 2024

This year we want to highlight service through our leadership. As the campus recognizes National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, our Leadership and Service Week is a great opportunity to be able to serve our community and network with other student leaders. See the positive impact you have on your community and learn what leadership is all about. All week, we will be collecting food and winter clothes for donation.

Friday, November 15

    • Hosted by Share the Bread

Monday, November 18

  • Showcasing Our Salukis | 10:30 AM - Noon | Student Center Headshot Studio
    • Do you need a professional photo? SIU students can stop by for a free headshot.
  • What is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week? Student Center First Floor
    • Stop by our table in the Student Center to learn about the week's importance and upcoming events!
  • Keynote Speaker | 4 PM | Student Center Ballroom B 
    • Hear from Ericka Potter, a youth advocate dedicated to support the youth of her community. Panel and reception to follow

Tuesday, November 19

  • Homeless Care Bag Making | 4 PM | Student Center Ballroom A 
    • Hosted by the Center for Service Learning and Volunteerism and Sustainability Office
  • Sustaining Our Service: Write Yourself a Love Letter | 5 PM | Student Center Ballroom B 
    • Join us for an evening of motivating discussions and self introspection, from 5 to 7 p.m. Hear from Alumna Kia Smith for an interactive workshop. Dinner will be provided.

Wednesday, November 20

Celebrating National Recycling Day!

  • Feeding the Community | Noon - 2 pm | Carbondale Pavilion
    • As a part of Leadership & Service Week, celebrating Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, enjoy lunch on SIU. Meet us at the Carbondale Pavilion for food, games, and music!

Thursday, November 21

  • Student Leaders Breakfast with Administration | 9 am | Student Center Ballroom A
    • Student leaders will discuss with the university administration ways to sustain, improve, and increase support for Salukis in need.
